Insurance Work
Whatever the situation, be it commercial or domestic, fire and flood accidents are far from pleasant experiences for anybody!
On being appointed to assist in the restoration of a damaged property by an insurance company, our qualified Advance Chem-Dry surveyors are sent to inspect the affected areas; we have a large range of specialist equipment to assist us in any circumstances, including thermal imaging cameras, dehumidifiers and moisture defection meters.
Once an estimate has been authorised, the surveyor will contact the policyholder to arrange to commence or complete necessary works – the job is then passed on to our highly trained and qualified technicians.
In dealing with the incident some or all of the following procedures may be carried out, although policy cover may restrict the nature and extent of work to be undertaken. For example, if your policy is contents only then the technician will not be in a position to remove fire/flood damaged building materials, i.e. kitchen units or remove excess residue from walls/ceilings etc.
Initial consideration will be given on emergency work to prevent further damage and to the health and safety of the occupants, the restoration technicians and any other subcontractors that may need access to the property.
In the case of a fire… emergency works may involve the following:
- Site safety - have gas and electricity supplies been made safe?
- Ventilation of the property.
- Removal of burnt/charred building materials and/or content items dependant upon policy cover.
- Application of granular odour counteractrants to control airborne odour particles.
In case of a flood … emergency works may involve the following:
- Investigation into the extent of damage.
- Carrying out bacteria and chloride tests.
- Application of a suitable anti-microbial solution to prevent mould and mildew growth and kill waterborne bacteria and viruses in contaminated water.
- Extraction of standing water.
- Moisture testing to determine the extent of moisture in structural materials, floor coverings and in the air.
- Installation of drying equipment such as dehumidifiers and air-movers.
- Thermal imaging Inspection
Whatever the cause of damage, our qualified, reliable technicians aim to make the whole process simple and straight forward. Our aim is to ensure everyday life and business is returned to normal quickly, and with the least disruption possible.
When our homes or businesses are damaged it can be an extremely stressful time, but we want our clients to feel at ease and have the confidence in us that we will do everything we can do to help ease the situation.
